Emily Tucker
At McALPINE, we have the opportunity to design homes that truly reflect the soul of their inhabitants. The intimacy of this approach to architecture makes every project personal and meaningful, and it’s what keeps me inspired every day.
About
Raised on a homestead in Huntsville, Alabama, Emily had a countryside upbringing fostering a deep love for the essence of “home.” Despite admiration from a young age, her path to architecture has been non-linear. She received her bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in Studio Art from Washington and Lee University. Though she initially pursued science, Emily found herself drawn more to her creative side, feeling most inspired in the studio sketching, printmaking, and sculpting. It was during her senior year that she realized architecture was the perfect blend of her scientific curiosity and artistic passion. A semester studying design in Barcelona, Spain further solidified her decision to pursue a Master of Architecture at the University of Virginia. After interning with McALPINE for two summers — first in Nashville and then in New York — Emily joined the firm full-time as part of the New York team in 2024. Outside of the office, she enjoys exploring her new neighborhood of SoHo, spending time with friends and family, and cranking out her needlepoint projects.
