J. Allen Harris II
Designing homes for our amazing clients all over this beautiful country, is a great privilege. Home is the most significant place we inhabit, this side of eternity – the place where our most profound memories are formed, and experiences are shared. We relish each invitation to create a home that is truly a reflection of you.
About
Allen, a Birmingham Alabama native, started in the industry at the age of 12 when he began framing houses during summers. Developing a deep passion for architecture, Allen went on to attain a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Auburn University. While at Auburn and after graduation, he gained valuable broad experience at award-winning residential firms in the Southeast. Allen joined McALPINE in 2013 in Montgomery and expanded the firm’s practice to Nashville in 2015, where he serves as Head of Architecture for the Nashville office. Both a licensed architect and licensed homebuilder, he is currently renovating his circa 1900 era home on his century-old working cattle ranch, 45 minutes west of Nashville, where he employs low-input regenerative agricultural practices and rotational grazing to produce sustainable grass-finished beef (learn more @themaplevalleyranch). When away from the drawing board, Allen most enjoys time with his wife Colby (also a McALPINE alumna), and daughter Harper, working on the ranch, fly fishing, wing-shooting and travel.
